Chipola Black History Program Set For Feb. 25

The Chipola College Black Student Union would like to invite all surrounding communities to join them in celebrating Black History Month on Friday, Feb. 25, from 6:00-9:00 p.m., in the Chipola College Cultural Center.

This year’s theme is “Mitigating societal discord through education and enhanced moral development within our society.”

Attendants will be able to enjoy dinner and festivities while learning more about Black History.

BSU will also host an essay contest for local high school students. The essay prompt is “Discuss the effects of education upon modifying long standing stereotypical beliefs and behaviors toward minority groups.”

The first-place winner will be awarded $100, the second-place winner will be award $75 and the third-place winner will be awarded $50.

The contest winners will be announced on Friday, Feb. 25 at the Black History Month Celebration.
