Student Support Services (SSS)

Chipola College Student Support Services (SSS) Staff is eager to assist students with their educational goals.

Chipola College's Student Support Services (SSS) is a TRiO program funded by the U.S. Department of Education to assist eligible students to succeed academically in college. The goals of the Student Support Services program are to increase the retention, graduation, and transfer rates of students participating in the program.

Student Support Services provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements, and serves to motivate students toward the successful completion of their post secondary education.

SSS encourages academic excellence and student success by providing intrusive and proactive academic services designed to empower students to address and overcome access challenges to higher education and gains an understanding of how to be successful in the college environment.

Chipola College's Student Support Services program is funded to serve 140 students who are currently enrolled at Chipola College and are first-generation college students (parents do not hold a Bachelor's degree), and/or meet federal income guidelines, and/or have a documented disability.

SSS helps students prepare for academic success and overcome social and cultural barriers to higher education.

Events and Activities

The goal of SSS is to increase the retention and graduation rates of its participants and to help students make the transition from one level of higher education to the next. To enhance the college experience, SSS students participate in many activities and special events both on campus and in the community.

SSS students participate in workshops on Business and Careers, Financial Aid and Scholarships, and College Transfer. Students also make University Visits to learn more about options for their future transfer.

SSS students give back to the Chipola community by participating in community service projects such as Donuts with Dudes, Backpacks for Kids, and Breast Cancer Awareness activities.

SSS students participating in TRiO Society develop social relationships through student activities like Fall Festival, SSS Welcome Back Celebration, Club Day and Homecoming activities.

TRiO

The TRiO Society, which supports Student Support Services, is one of the largest and most active student organization on Chipola's campus. The society works hard throughout the year on Chipola's campus and in the community volunteering and giving back. TRiO Society is a great way for students to connect with other SSS students. This is an important part of who we are!
