Florida Commerce Visits Chipola Workforce Programs

Published:

As the State of Florida prepares for another storm, we are thankful for our Educational Partners in the area like Florida Commerce!  We work together to prepare, build and re-build.

On September 23rd, personnel from Florida Commerce visited the five Chipola Construction Workforce Programs to visit students who participated in the Florida Workforce Recovery Training Program (WRTP).

This program stemmed from the aftermath of Hurricane Michael and the devastation to our area, along with the construction trades workforce shortage. The program utilizes HUD funding to help support students wanting a career in these specialized construction trades.

Jody McCormick , Chris Richison and Evan Smart toured the facilities along with some of Chipola’s administration where they interacted with Chipola students and faculty in Welding, Plumbing, HVAC, Building Construction, and the Electricity programs.

We are so proud of these students and the opportunity afforded them thanks to the WRTP grant!

REAL World, REAL Life, REAL jobs!
