Chipola’s Literature/Language Winners
Some 52 students from 9 area high schools competed in writing, reading, speech, oral interpretation, literature, humanities, grammar, and spanish contests at Chipola College on Feb. 11.
The occasion was the Thirty-second Annual Throssell Literature/Language Festival hosted by Chipola’s Letters Department. The purpose of the festival is to recognize and encourage academic excellence.
Prizes were awarded to first, second and third places, as well as two honorable mentions, in each category. The winner of the President’s Reading Contest received a special medallion as well as a cash award.

Speech: first—Tamaya Pope of Marianna High School; second—Kase Hill of Altha Public School; third—Gabriella Steverson of Holmes County High School; honorable mentions—Danielle Mosely of Malone School and Hanah Leslie of Malone School.
Oral Interpretation: first—Braden Banta of Chipley High School; second—Sarah Bush of Chipley High School; third—Haley Terry of Bethlehem High School; honorable mention—Justin Tate of Bethlehem High School.
