Chipola Men Host Baton Rouge Jan. 15
The Chipola College men’s basketball team hosts Baton Rouge Community College in a non-conference game Saturday, Jan. 15, at 1 p.m.
Chipola’s Jan. 12 games at Gulf Coast were rescheduled to Jan. 17 due to Covid issues with the Gulf Coast team.
Both Chipola teams host Northwest Saturday, Jan. 22, after travelling to Tallahassee on Jan. 19.
The Indians are (16-3, 2-1) following a 76-46 win over Pensacola on Jan. 8. Chipola suffered a 84-54 loss to Northwest on Jan. 6. Chipola opened league play with a 92-58 win over Tallahassee on Jan. 4. The Indians are second in the Panhandle Conference behind Northwest.
Chipola is the number three team in the FCSAA State Poll, and number nine in the NJCAA National Poll.
The Indians are averaging 84.6 points per game this season while giving up only 61.9 points.
Chipola was 23-5 last year, with a Panhandle Conference title, an FCSAA State Championship and a final four finish in the National Tournament. In his second year at Chipola, Coach Donnie Tyndall has lost only one home game, an 80-78 misfire to Jones College on Dec. 11.
The Lady Indians (16-3, 1-2) suffered a pair of conference losses: to Pensacola 59-50 on Jan. 8 and a 69-49 loss to Northwest on Jan. 6. Chipola was without three of its top players in both games, but the trio is expected to return this week.

The Lady Indians are averaging 84.9 points per game while giving up only 52.3 points.
The Lady Indians finished in the Final Four of the 2021 NJCAA National Basketball Tournament with a 20-5 overall record and a seventh FCSAA State Championship. In his tenth season at Chipola, head coach Greg Franklin has won three state championships with two second place finishes and a national title in 2015.
