Chipola Brain Bowl Wins
The Chipola Brain Bowl A team defeated Southern Union 230-195 in the finals to win the 2024 NAQT Community College National Championship Tournament.
Chipola finished the tournament with a 12-1 record. This was Chipola's fifth Community College Championship Tournament win, last year they finished second to Tallahassee Community College.
Chipola featured a scoring attack led by Brayden Hand, whose 78.90 scoring average placed fourth in the field and on the All-Star team for the tournament. Sophomore Hand was joined by three freshmen in Chipola A's lineup: John Maupin, Cade Foxworth, and Seth Crutchfield. Maupin's 34.86 scoring average earned him a place on the all-star team. Trevor Shelton of Chipola's B team also made the all-star team.
Chipola's B team consisted of sophomores Trevor Shelton (captain), Chad Mayo, Oliver Nandho, and Jack Taylor-Ebersole. The B team finished 9th in the field of 24, with a record of 8-3.
The team will now advance to the ICT (International Collegiate Tournament) to be held in Chicago in April. Chipola will compete against the other four-year schools who have qualified.
