Course Description:
This course is an introduction to contemporary ethical and legal issues encountered by health care providers in a wide array of settings. It will identify legal and ethical principles that create the underpinnings of decision-making in nursing and health care practice.

Means of accomplishing learning outcomes:

The instructor will assign and evaluate quizzes covering the reading assignments from the textbook. The instructor will assign and provide feedback to students on assignments: discussion boards, scholarly paper, PowerPoint presentation, and video interview.

This course uses an alternate grading system that differs from the college-wide grading scale. The following scale indicates a student's standing in the course:
A – 90 – 100
B – 80 – 89
C – 75 – 79
D – 60 – 74
F – 59 or less
