Course Description:A course of private instruction for students preparing for the freshman level of performance. Credit earned in the MV-(B,K,P,S,V,W) 1011-1016 series will not apply toward the requirement of the principal instrument. May be repeated up to a maximum of 4 times for credit. Course may be repeated for a maximum credit of 8 semester hours.

Solo literature and technique books appropriate to the level of the student will be assigned on an individual basis. Music must be purchased within two weeks after it has been assigned.

Means of accomplishing learning outcomes:
The instructor will conduct a course of private instruction for students via a combination of rehearsal, out-of-class practice, and performance opportunities. Music literature appropriate to the level of challenge will be assigned and concepts will be explained in class. The student will learn by guidance from the teacher by learning varied repertoire, and regularly practicing the concepts presented. The instructor will hold weekly office hours to address further questions and student needs outside of class time. The final grade will be based on class participation and skills performance.
Students are expected to:
- Arrive to class on time
- Participate in their lesson and be focused in class
- Practice outside of class time
- Participate in student recital and assigned performances
