Course Description:
This course introduces the student to the tools and techniques utilized to measure, maintain, and continuously improve quality to ensure that products and processes meet the quality standards required in the advanced manufacturing environment. Students who have earned the MSSC-CPT certification are eligible to receive articulated credit for completion of this course.

This course is designed to present the total quality control function in industry. The latest concepts and techniques will be studied in light of modern manufacturing requirements a current technological developments.

  • Document quality measurements or observations using charts or records.
  • Compare process measurements to standards. 
  • Identify root causes, preventive action, and corrective action.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of a quality process’s capabilities and its applications.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of how to implement quality assurance principles/methods and checks for inspections.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of internal and external supply chains, inventory control methods, and configuration of management.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of production floor plan and safety requirements to place materials in most efficient and safe location.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of forecasting methods, audits, cycle count process, and trade-off techniques.

Demonstrate an understanding of industrial processes and material properties.

Demonstrate ability to generate and interpret computer-aided drawings (CAD).

Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of electronics and electricity.

Demonstrate an understanding of industrial safety, health, and environmental requirements.

Demonstrate proficiency in the use of quality assurance methods and quality control concepts.

Demonstrate proficiency in using tools, instruments, and testing devices.
