Course Description:This is a survey course including historical, sociological, and philosophical foundations of education, governance and finance of education, educational policies, legal, moral and ethical issues and the profession of teaching. Students will be provided information on the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices, state-adopted standards, and the Professional Educator Competencies. The students will complete a minimum of 15 hours of field-based experience with students in schools.

Means of accomplishing learning outcomes:
The primary methods of instruction include class discussions, experiential learning opportunities, interactive lecture, and assigned readings. Learning strategies may include case studies, questioning, practicums, small group discussions, demonstrations, and presentations. Active student participation is expected. Additionally, students are expected to complete assigned projects by the assigned due dates.
