PERT

The PERT is administered at Chipola throughout the year.

The PERT (Postsecondary Education Readiness Test) is Florida's common placement test. This multiple choice, computer-adaptive test is used by all 28 members of the Florida College System. The purpose of the PERT is to assess academic skills and determine course placement in mathematics, reading, and writing. This test can take the place of ACT, CLT or SAT to meet course enrollment requirments.

A free practice test is available at: https://college.measuredsuccess.com/mscollege/practiceTest2/index.html

Each of the three subject tests have 30 questions, and you should expect to spend approximately 45 - 60 minutes on each section. If you do not know the answer to a specific question, you are encouraged to try and answer the question by eliminating one or more of the answer options and then select from the remaining choices. Handheld calculators are not permitted, but a pop-up calculator will be available for use on specific questions. Your scores will be available immediately after completion, and you will receive a copy of the results.

Dual enrollment students & parents, please speak with your school guidance counsellor to begin the process to register for PERT.

Costs

High school guidance counselors can request a PERT fee waiver for dual enrollment students or early admission. The fee for the PERT can be waived only once. The fee is not waived for graduating high school seniors who need to take the PERT to meet scholarship or graduation requirements.

The fee for the PERT is $6.50 for one subtest, $11.50 for two subsets, $18.50 for three subtests. Payment will be required when the testing appointment is scheduled on RegisterBlast.

There is a 30-day wait between attempts.

High school students attempting to qualify for dual enrollment or early admission may retake any or all portions of the PERT after 30 days as well. In order to retest, students are required to make an appointment on RegisterBlast and pay the applicable fees.
