College Placement Testing (ACT, CLT, PERT & SAT)

All dual enrollment students are required to take one of the placement tests below to qualify for the program.

SB1720 Exempt Students

Based on Florida State Statute 1008.30 and Florida State Rule 6A-10.0315, the following students are exempt and are not required to take a placement test:

  • Students who entered 9th grade in a Florida public school in the 2003-2004 school year or after and earned a Florida standard high school diploma
  • Students who are serving as active duty members of any branch of the United States armed services are no longer required –Students must provide documentation of military status to be exempt from placement testing.
  • A transfer student who earned a C or better in an approved college-level mathematics and English course.
  • A student who achieved the appropriate college-level cut-scores on an approved common placement test within the last two (2) years. 

Although a placement test is not required, an exempt student may opt to be assessed and to enroll in developmental courses, if desired. 

Students should register at www.actstudent.org. Students applying for extended time for the first time or requesting standby testing also have online options. The test center and college code lists are available only on the Web.
