Our Firefighter II Training Program consists of 225 clock hours. It prepares students for certification and employment as Firefighters in accordance with Florida Statutes. This Statute requires that a student must be 18 years of age or older; have a high school diploma or equivalent; no criminal record; pass a physical examination; be a certified First Responder or higher (EMT/B or EMT/P) complete the fire academy; and pass the State Certification Exam. To be eligible for the State Certification Exam, a student must complete all requirements set forth by Chipola College and the Bureau of Fire Standards and Training. To enter this class, the student must have completed a First Responder course or be a state certified EMT/B, EMT/P, and/or be a state certified Firefighter I.

Our Firefighter II program has specialized training. We offer a “RIDE ALONG PROGRAM” that allows students to spend time at two of our local fire departments. Students are allowed to actively participate in day to day workings of a fire department which includes responding to fires, accidents, EMS calls, etc.

IMPORTANT NOTE: AT NO TIME ARE STUDENTS ALLOWED TO ENTER THE HOT ZONE AT AN INCIDENT.
We also offer a BASIC EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS class that will teach the students how to prepare for interviews and to write resumes. This will help students be better prepared to enter the work place.

Firefighter I is 191 hours. Price: $624.05.

Firefighter II is 301 hours. Price: $891.55

Pre-requisite for both courses is First Responder (EMT or higher certification).  A daytime First Responder class will meet prior to the course.  Cost is $130.
