Florida English Journal
Amie Myers, instructor of literature, serves as the executive editor of the Florida English Journal, a publication of the Florida Council of Teachers of English and Chipola College. The journal, created and published on the college campus, is the product of work from the students in LIT 3930 Special Topics in Literature. These students, working to become middle and secondary English teachers, are enrolled in the English Education program in the School of Education. Under the supervision and creative energy of Myers, the students select the articles for print from a vast array of submissions. The articles are peer reviewed. The articles are relevant to teachers of English at all grade levels from elementary to post-secondary. Working with her students, Myers has published two journals, both of which have been selected for the Journal of Excellence Award through the National Council of Teachers of English. This award goes to less than 10 journals in the country. Myers and her students earn an expense-paid trip to the NCTE national convention to accept this prestigious award.
Articles include research, lesson plans, creative writing, student writing, and artwork. Submissions can be made at Submittable.com.
