Health Information
AIDS
Florida Statutes require that we provide information related to acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). For detailed information, visit the Centers for Disease Control website at: http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/pubs/facts.htm
Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus or MRSA
Please check the following link to the Center for Disease Control for a fact sheet concerning MRSA and general Staph infections: wwww.cdc.gov/ncidod/dhqp/pdf/ar/MRSAPatientInfoSheet.pdf
Health Insurance
Chipola does not contract with a health insurance provider for students, nor do we make referrals to any particular company. Anyone needing insurance should check with individual agencies for coverage.
Immunizations
Florida Statutes require that a postsecondary institution provide
information concerning the risks associated with meningococcal meningitis
and hepatitis B to every student who has been accepted for admission.
Students who live in an on-campus residence hall are required to provide
documentation of vaccinations against meningococcal meningitis and hepatitis
B or sign a waiver declining the vaccinations.

Use of Tobacco, Alcohol and Illegal Drugs/Narcotics
Chipola policy prohibits smoking inside any building on campus. For information on the prevention and control of tobacco use visit: http://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/sgr/sgr_2004/index.htm
In 1994, Chipola adopted a Drug-Free Campus Policy and Program. Students cannot realize their full potential when using alcohol and/or illegal drugs/narcotics which severely impair physical and mental health. Check the following link to the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence to view research and get information on how alcohol and drugs affect your health: http://www.ncadd.org
