College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)
You can receive credit for what you already know by earning qualifying scores on any one or more of 34 CLEP examinations. With the recent transition to computer-based testing (CBT) many new advantages were created such as open-entry testing during certain hours each week, instant score reports, ongoing essay testing, and rights-only scoring. (It's okay to guess and you should answer all the questions on the exam.) For a description of exams offered: CLEP Examination Descriptions
No CLEP credit will be awarded by Chipola College for any course in which a student has previously been enrolled or earned credit.
CLEP exams are offered Monday through Thursday between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. No pre-registration is required and you will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. The CLEP will NOT be offered during college registration dates which are listed on the Chipola College calendar. You must show two forms of ID and pay the fee at the Testing Center (Bldg. A) when you arrive to take the test.
Each candidate must present two forms of identification.
The PRIMARY ID must be a government-issued photo ID. The ID must include the candidate's name, signature, and a recognizable photograph. Acceptable forms of primary identification include:
A current driver's license
A current state or federal ID card
A current passport
A tribal ID card
A naturalization card or certificate of citizenship
The SECONDARY ID must contain either a photo or a signature. Acceptable forms of secondary identification include:
A current employee ID
A current student ID
A Social Security card
A military ID
An unused ID from the primary choices above
A debit or credit card payment of $72.00 to CLEP via the internet just prior to starting your test, or a check or money order submitted to the Testing Center will be required. The Testing Center also requires $15.00 cash, check, or money order payable to Chipola College for each exam. If you are taking more than one exam, separate payment to CLEP is required for each test.
