Dearly Departed

November 4th thru 6th at 7pm
November 7th at 2pm

David Bottrell and Jessie Jones
Chipola Theatre

Not since STEEL MAGNOLIAS has a more colorful and dysfunctional group of Southern eccentrics gathered below the Mason-Dixon line. When the patriarch of the Turpin family keels over dead in the first scene, the struggle to get him buried involves the whole clan, including the not-so-grieving widow who wants to put “Mean and Surly” on the tombstone. “If you were amused by the kind of bucolic mayhem of … GREATER TUNA, this more ambitious trip down a rustic main street could be just your dish of cola.”.

Auditions: September 7th and 8th at 6:00pm

Little Shop of Horrors

March 9th thru 12th at 7pm
March 13th at 2pm

Book by Howard Ashman
Music by Alan Menken
Lyrics by Howard Ashman
Chipola Theatre

A down and out skid row floral assistant becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving. Soon “Audrey II” grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R & B-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite, finally revealing itself to be an alien creature poised for global domination!

One of the longest-running Off –Broadway shows of all time, this affectionate spoof of 1950’s sci-fi movies has become a house-hold name and highly successful film version and a score by the songwriting team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, who redefined the animated musical film with Disney’s “The Little Mermaid, “Beauty and the Beast” and “Aladdin.” Charming, tuneful and hilarious, with tongue firmly planted “Little Shop of Horrors” never fails to entertain.

Auditions: January 10th and 11th at 6:00pm
