Lady Indians Defeat Darton

The Chipola Lady Indians won the first and lost the second game against Darton Tuesday on the road, moving to 16-7 on the year.
Rayna McClinton pitched five innings and struck out 10 in the Lady Indians’ 7-2 victory, while Brooke Muth surrendered eight runs, six earned, in the final 2 1/3 innings in the second game of the day, an 8-7 loss.
Darton scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to win in extra innings.
Chipola led 5-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, but Darton rallied with a run in the sixth, two in the seventh to tie the game, then three more in the eighth to win it.
The Lady Indians took two-run leads into the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings with chances to close it out.
Destini Echols drove in four runs for Darton, while Kara Gordon led Chipola offensively, go ing 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored.
Rebekah Lewis started for Chipola and went 4 2/3 innings.
Lewis pitched two innings of scoreless relief in the Lady Indians’ victory.
Michelle Hewett picked up three RBI in the game, with Kellie Todd driving in two more.
Chipola returns home today to take on Grand Rapids at noon and Lake Michigan at 2 p.m.
