Chipola Takes Down Tallahassee
The win was Chipola’s 16th
straight as the top-ranked

heading into Tuesday’s PC
home opener against Gulf
Coast Community College.
Chipola scored the final nine points of the first half to open up a 31-20 lead as the teams headed to the locker room. The momentum carried over to the second stanza as it took less than four minutes for the Indians to extend their lead to 20.
Casey Mitchell’s three-pointer capped an 8-0 run that put Chipola in front 42-22 with 16:30 left in the game.
The Indians’ extended their lead to 26 before TCC made a brief run. Consecutive three-pointers by Marvell Waithe and Hugh Robertson cut Chipola’s lead to 56-40 with 6:24 remaining but that was as close as the Eagles got. The Indians rattled off the next 13 points and eventually led by as many as 30 in the game’s final minute.
TCC shot only 35 percent (20-of-57) for the game and surrendered 20 offensive rebounds as Chipola claimed a 49-32 advantage on the glass. The Indians converted the extra opportunities into 20 points.
Mitchell led a balanced Indian attack with 21 points. Jeremy Jacob added 17 and Josh Sain 11.
Bernard James paced TCC with 14 points. Waithe and Robertson scored 11 and 10, respectively.
