Billy Gillespie and his Texas A&M staff
added one of the nation's top junior college combo forwards in
Russian import 6-7 Victor Dubovitskiy...
We got an update today from the Head
Coach of the Nation's No. 1-rated juco squad, Chipola CC's Greg
Heier today, and he told Hoopmasters that his 6-7 210-pound
Russina import
Victor Dubovitskiy is headed to
Texas
A&M.
Victor Dubovitskiy is headed to Texas A&M!
"Victor
Dubovitskiy has signed with
Texas
A&M," Coach Heier told Hoopmasters. "He really liked A&M's
coaching staff, players, and how they push each other to be
better on a daily basis. He is very excited to be an Aggie."
The 6-7 Combo forward has been named to a number of pre-season
All-America squads due to his play last year at Salt Lake CC,
UT, but Heier things he's even better now.
"Victor is the most improved player I've coached, from the time
he arrived this summer until today," Coach Heier explained. "He
can really shoot it and get to the rim, get to the free throw
line, defends two spots, and works as hard as any player I've
been around on his game on a daily basis."
Last year he averaged 13.7 points and 4.4 boards at Salt Lake.
Heis numbers may not go up on this deep Chipola squad, but he
could be a real key for Coach Heier's squad if it is going to
maintain it's run to the national crown in Hutchinson next
March.
He chose
Texas
A&M over interest from
Oklahoma State,
Iowa
State, and
Cincinnati.
