Indians earn split of doubleheader with Meridian

Chipola split a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon with Meridian Community College. Chipola won the first game 10-6 and losing the second game 4-2. In the first game, Chipola got off to a quick start, scoring three runs in the first inning. Meridian answered back with three runs in the second. After the second inning, Chipola scored runs in each of the next four innings to extend the lead. The Indians were led at the plate by Moises Montero (3-3, HR, 3 RBI's), Jordan Lucas (2-2), and Daniel Jones (2-4, 1 RBI). Chipola reliever Kyle Regnault earned his third win of the season, throwing 3.2 innings, giving up only two hits and striking out two.
In the second game, down 4-2, the Indians loaded the bases with one out in the seventh inning, but couldn't push across any runs. Chipola were led offensively by Adam Duvall (2-2, 1 RBI). The best Chipola starting pitching performance of the weekend came from Jason Townsend, only allowing five hits in seven inning of work, striking out three. Townsend (4-2) earned the hard-luck loss on the mound.
