Parker and a pair of homeruns lift Chipola over Gulf Coast
March 22, 2008
Drew Parker "pitched" his way to his fifth win of the season, with a seven hit and five strikeout performance to lead Chipola past Gulf Coast, 5-3. Chipola got two 2-run homeruns from Jordan Lucas and Moises Montero to provide enough offensive support to hold off Gulf Coast. Parker surrounded single runs in the first and second innings, but settled down to allow only one over the next six innings. Lucas' homerun came in the third inning after a sacrifice fly by Carlos Moncrief moved Daniel Jones to third, but an overthrown to the cutoff man allowed Jones to score. Montero added his eighth homerun of the year during the seventh inning to produce the final Chipola runs.
Matt Jackson closed out the game for the Indians, collecting his second save of the season. Jackson induced Mason Meredith to flyout to end the game. Chipola next game will be against Okaloosa-Walton on Tuesday, March 25th at 5:00 CST in Marianna.
