Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPS) And Related Tasks

The twelve FEAP’s, approved by the Florida State Board of Education in 1996, describe the required professional competencies that successful teachers in Florida should master.  Students in Chipola’s teacher education programs must demonstrate each of the FEAP’s at the preprofessional level at least three times prior to graduation.

The FEAP’s are:
1. ASSESSMENT
2. COMMUNICATION
3. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
4. CRITICAL THINKING
5. DIVERSITY
6. ETHICS
 7. HUMAN DEVELOPMENT & LEARNING
 8. KNOWLEDGE OF SUBJECT MATTER

 9. LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS
10. PLANNING
11. ROLE OF THE TEACHER
12. TECHNOLOGY

The table below correlates the FEAP’s with the assessment tasks that must be completed in various courses in the program.

The FEAP are presented, demonstrated  and practiced in the following courses.

Task Demonstrated

1. Assessment

The student collects and uses data gathered from a variety of sources. These sources will include both traditional and alternate strategies. Furthermore, the teacher can identify and match the students’ instructional plan with their cognitive, social, linguistic, cultural, emotional, and physical needs.
